2009 Olcott Polar Bear Swim for Sight : The 2009 Olcott Polar Bear Swim for Sight was the 40th year for this event! 804 swimmers braved the 35 degree water, a bit of ice and a chilly breeze from the north to raise money for the Lions Club. Let's hope a record number of swimmers means a record amount of money was raised. This is a big gallery, but there were a lot of folks out to tailgate and romp in Lake Ontario. It was nice to be greeted by so many folks who come and do this each year and take the time to look at my photos. Polar Bear Swim for Sight 2008 : 700 swimmers, a new record, took part in this years swim. The Lions Club and their volunteers did another great job pulling off this large event. 2007 Polar Bear Swim for Sight : The 2007 Olcott Polar Bear Swim for Sight was held on a cold windy day, but 576 brave folks still came out and jumped into Lake Ontario and raised $15,000 for the Olcott Lions Club! This event has highland games, chowder and other food vendors, on the street and all the local taverns have entertainment.
